Schedule a class period during the school day for your students to dedicate to their Advanced Scholars course.
Encourage students to take responsibility for their learning and interactions with UNL. This is a great time for students to “practice” the self-reliance they’ll need on-campus.
Check for the technical specifications of school computers your students may use. Blackboard and EDU (online testing system) have minimum technical requirements for optimal functionality. Don’t hesitate to contact the Helpdesk for support.
Remember there are many people at UNL here to support you and your students. Please don’t hesitate to contact us.

See how Advanced Scholars courses transfer into the eight colleges at UNL. Advanced Scholars courses are general education courses, applicable for students in any major. For students interested in particular college majors, this may help them decide which course best fit their needs.
Help your proctors know what is required for each Advanced Scholars course. This chart details how many exams and quizzes are required for each course and if they are proctored, as well as helpful information for the course.
The Advanced Scholars program partners with Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education (CCPE) to seek college tuition funding for Nebraska students who qualify under the free and reduced lunch guidelines.
The Advanced Scholars coordinator can also hold an information session for your staff, parents and students (in-person or at a distance). Please contact us to learn more.
Proctor Information
Just like face-to-face courses, Advanced Scholars courses contain exams which are administered in a secure test-taking environment. To accomplish this, UNL relies on proctors within your local school.
Shortly before the semester begins, we will ask that your school identify a proctor (or proctors) who will help administer exams and quizzes, as required by the specific course. Proctors are determined by the local high school, and are typically counselors, teachers, administrators or other certificated school staff.
For more information about the proctoring requirements of specific courses, check the Advanced Scholars Proctor Chart.
Uphold the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s standards for academic honesty
Administer the examination(s) as per the instructions provided by the faculty
Monitor the student during the examination
To maintain the security of any proctor codes used/issued by UNL Schools will be required to have the proctor(s) associated with Advanced Scholars courses sign a proctor agreement. This form verifies proctors are aware of the requirements and pledge to uphold the academic integrity within all Advanced Scholars courses. The agreement is to be returned to the Advanced Scholars Program Coordinator prior to the beginning of the semester of course offerings.
Most online UNL courses use an electronic testing system for exams called Maple T.A. With Maple T.A. proctors simply log students into the web based test, and then monitor the student as they complete their exam.
