Information for Nebraska High Schools
The UNL Advanced Scholars program is an approved Rule 10 distance education provider, as outlined by the Nebraska Department of Education. This means that the Advanced Scholars program has met all requirements of offering distance education to your high school students, and that you may also elect to offer Advanced Scholars courses as high school credit.
To implement Advanced Scholars courses as high school credit, the Nebraska Department of Education requires high schools to:
- Assumes cost of course for students using Advanced Scholars as high school credit (though student/parents actually assume the cost of participating in Advanced Scholars)
- Offer as instructional units and show on high school schedule/curriculum
- Make courses open to anyone at your high school (pending your approval of participation)
- Have a high school certificated teacher serve as proctor/supervisor (may proctor more than one course)
- Students should have access to a high school teacher in the subject area for further assistance, if proctor is not.
