Although the idea of online courses is relatively new, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) has a long history of offering courses at a distance — over 90 years. Courses are designed to be interactive, challenging and engaging. Students are encouraged to communicate with other students in Nebraska and from across the United States, as well as UNL professors in order to establish an optimized learning environment.

As a distance student you must possess many of the same characteristics and skills as a traditional on-campus student: time management, self-discipline and motivation. But to be a successful distance student you must be especially mature in your approach to learning.
