Advanced Scholars

Transferring Credit

How and where your Advanced Scholars credit will help your degree

In most colleges and universities, the courses you take are described in credit hours. You complete an undergraduate program of study when you accumulate a number of credit hours (usually 125-130) that satisfy a specific combination of courses in your major, minor, general education requirements and elective courses. Overall, the courses offered through the Advanced Scholars program are considered general education courses, meaning the classes do not tie students to a specific major.

Because of this and UNL’s reputation for academic excellence, your Advanced Scholars courses should transfer easily to other accredited colleges or universities. However, credit recognition is based solely on the institution granting it. If you choose not to attend UNL as a freshman, speak to your chosen college or university to see how UNL credit will count toward your degree at that school. If you decide to attend UNL, you’ll undoubtedly have a few credits under your belt, and a little more flexibility in your schedule as a freshman.

If you’d like to speak to a UNL general studies advisor please call (402) 472-3605.
